| Responses to Requests for Repatriation
Beginning with calendar year 2011, the Smithsonian Institution began submitting to Congress an annual report of the repatriation activities at the National Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of American Indian. The report provides statistical information on the number of human remains and objects that have been repatriated or are available for repatriation and are awaiting tribal disposition decisions. The report also provides information on consultations with native communities, repatriation claim processing, and highlights some of the repatriation activities of each museum during the year.
