Notes: La Venta Altar 5, detail. The seated figure in the niche “wears a tall headdress in the form of a truncated cone. A band around the base of the headdress is decorated with an X on either side and in front a face with down-curved mouth set in an oval cartouche over which are three vertical cone-shaped elements.
