William Duncan Strong (Honduras, 1933)
While traveling to the town of Conquirre, Strong came upon La Floresta, a large site with red tripod ceramics and other artifacts typical of the region. During a stopover the expedition mapped the site, and Strong provided a crude profile of the topographic association of the mounds. He mentions talking with some neighboring children, but there are also many comments on birds. Of particular interest on page 136 (left) is the note, below the sketch, that red macaws tried to drive him and Herbert Einicke from the site "like reincarnated Maya priests."
