Alan Deino got his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, and has worked with our project for 16 years. He earns his living at the Berkeley Geochronology Center, Berkeley, California, and has traveled far and wide to study old volcanic rocks. His expertise is in geological dating of volcanic (and other heated) rocks and the chemistry of volcanic ashes and pumice layers, which are abundant at Olorgesailie.
