John Finarelli received his B.A. in Anthropology from the College of William and Mary in 1995. He spent two years in the Peace Corps in West Africa, teaching math in a local high school. In 1998, he returned to school where he is currently working towards an M.S. in Paleontology. His academic interests include phylogeny (particularly hominoids), the process of evolution, and the impact environment has upon evolution.

In his spare time, John is an avid football fan, and is politically active with the Alliance for a United Gondwanaland (AUG).
