Field Notebook -

As paleoanthropologists, paleontologists and geologists, we can't sit at a computer all the time and run experiments. We have to go to where the archeological sites and rock formations are. This is fieldwork, and for most of us, it's what we love to do most.

We will be updating this section with dispatches that tell you what we are doing and what we are finding as it happens. We hope to expand not only your understanding of the prehistoric site of Olorgesailie and of paleoanthropology as a science, but also to give you an idea of what it is like to do fieldwork "in the bush." Double click on the images in the journal entries for the fullsize photo and description.

Click on the calendar dates to view the dispatch from that day, and follow the links within the dispatches by clicking on the images. We hope that you enjoy this opportunity to see what doing science in the field is like.
