Plastering
the femur at site B8-1.
Applying a plaster cast around several of the fossils at the site was necessary to transport them back to camp. The state of preservation at B8-1 is not very good, the fossils appear to have been highly weathered before we discovered them, making many of the larger bones extremely fragile. So we encase the whole bone and a portion of the sediment it is resting on in a cast that prevents any movement. In the museum lab, we will be able to repair any damage the bones have suffered through time.
