A skull cap with an intact right orbit, the KNM ER 3883 fossil was originally attributed to the species Homo erectus. But with reclassification of the African population, it has been newly assigned to Homo ergaster. Notice the lack of a sulcus behind the massive browridges. Compare the shape of the back of the skull with Asian Homo erectus. Based on the degree of robusticity, the skull is thought to belong to a male individual. |
